Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year, and 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, which represents good fortune!! Just for fun, my Auntie C challenged me to make a very special sugar cookie.
We had baked up a batch of Auntie C's Famous Sugar Cookies and cut out a scalloped square, then after it cooled, we frosted it with a layer of white royal icing. My Auntie had looked up the Chinese symbol for a dragon online with her phone, and gave it to me to copy freehand with chocolate icing.
Slowly, and carefully, I drew it out
It took some time, but I got it.
Here it is. All I added after that was a sprinkling of red sugar around the edge. I thought it was almost too good to eat. But then, I had to share it! I gave it to one of my favorite teachers, Ms. Powers. She loved it!
Hope your Year of the Dragon is filled with good fortune!!
