The Perfect Hard Boiled Egg

Get ready to dye some Easter eggs! I know a lot of you guys are going to be boiling eggs to dye and after keeping them for some time, you will want to eat them so I want to show you the way to perfectly boil an egg (according to my mom and Martha Stewart). The egg will have a nice yellow yolk that is not greenish- gray when you bite into it. View the steps below to learn how to avoid this mishap. Happy Easter!

Place eggs in pot, single layered.  Fill pot with cold water, covering eggs by 1 inch.  Cook on medium high until water boils.

Once water comes to a rolling boil (like this picture), put lid on pot and remove from heat.

Let eggs sit off the heat for 12 minutes (set your timer!).

After the 12 minutes are up, transfer eggs to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.    Once eggs are cool, drain the water.  Use eggs right away or put in fridge for dying later!

Happy 1 Year Birthday Bellabits!!!

This project was my most favorite of all of them and what better way to celebrate BellaBits 1 year anniversary with, you guessed it, cake!

Actually, my mom's birthday is a couple of days after, so, with my Auntie C's help, I baked her a beautiful cake.

I baked and frosted a 3 layered cake. 1st layer: Hummingbird, (has bananas), second- lemon, and 3rd: Hummingbird (has bananas)- again!  Even though I REALLY hate bananas, I thought it was a good way to show that I am willing to bake anything and everything...especially for my MOM!  Cream cheese frosting, the right recipe, and some love is all it takes for a kid to make the perfect cake.

AND decorating was awesome.  Be sure to stay tuned, because I think Bellabits may be featuring a lot of cake decorating tips in future posts.

Cake layers are coming together. Now for the fun--FROSTING!!

That's Cream Cheese Frosting, by the way.

Yes, I decorated it!!!

April Fools Pranks with Food!

HEE HEE HO! HEYYY!! Wazzup?! I have been at the beach for spring break so i havent been able to post for a while. Well I have a perfect prank for April Fool's Day!!! I love April Fool's Day and all of the fun pranks to do on others. So here is the trick: Spaghetti and Meatball Cupcakes!

They are lemon cupcakes that have piped frosting on top with a plastic sandwich baggy that was cut at the corner as a tip. We then piped out the frosting to look like spaghetti. We grabbbed some chocolate, glazed doughnut holes, rolled them in strawberry jam, and put one on top of each cupcake. These will be a simple treat that will fool everyone in a sweet, delicious way. Happy Pranking this April Fool's Day!
